ARM RATE FREEZE PROGRAM 

The Bush administration has announced a program to help certain people that have an adjustable rate mortgage. The plan is limited to subprime borrowers who have hardly any equity and are unlikely to qualify for refinancing. The mortgage would need to be issued between 1-1-2005 and 7-31-2007 with the rate reset scheduled for 1-1-2008 and 7-31-2010. Other qualifications apply and the program will only be made available to borrowers that ask for it. The mortgage freeze program will bring relief for many borrowers that would otherwise face a large increase in their monthly payment. However in many cases it is better to refinance into a new fixed rate loan. You will probably be better off to do a refinance to a fixed rate if you qualify for a better rate than your existing mortgage.
